New Smyrna Gnarlies Join the Orange State League

New Smyrna Beach, FL — The New Smyrna Beach Gnarlies are proud to announce Eric Torres as the organization’s General Manager, bringing prior professional baseball experience, a deep passion for the game, and a strong commitment to building a winning culture from the ground up.

As the Gnarlies prepare for their inaugural chapter, Torres steps into the role with excitement about shaping the identity of a brand-new franchise.

“The opportunity to be a part of something from its inception is really what has me fired up about leading the Gnarlies,” said Torres. “Building this organization from day one is something special, and I’m excited to help lay that foundation.”

Torres emphasized that fans can expect a team and organization fully committed to excellence in every aspect. “Fans can expect a fully committed effort to be the absolute best we can be, both on the field with our players and within the stadium with our staff,” he said. “We want to create an environment that represents New Smyrna Beach the right way.”

His return to baseball is driven by both experience and passion. “I worked in baseball before and I loved every moment,” Torres shared. “This is an exciting opportunity to return to something I’m passionate about, while also working to make the Gnarlies a household name in New Smyrna Beach.”

Originally from The Bronx, Torres brings a diverse background shaped by his experiences in both New York and Florida. He moved to Florida in 2013 and has called Volusia County home since 2017. A lifelong baseball enthusiast, Torres played the game through high school and later gained professional experience working with the Cincinnati Reds organization as a clubhouse manager.

With a strong understanding of both the player and operational sides of the game, Torres is poised to lead the Gnarlies into a promising future centered on player development, community engagement, and a first-class fan experience.

The New Smyrna Beach Gnarlies look forward to an exciting beginning under Torres’ leadership as they establish themselves as a staple in the local sports community.
